Language and data model

Supported syntax, admitted imports, and the important differences from Python.

The supported subset

Construct0.1 behavior
Top levelAdmitted from-imports and function definitions only; no top-level constants or executable statements.
FunctionsNamed functions; @contract.entrypoint declares public functions with exactly two positional arguments. No defaults, variadic or keyword-only parameters.
Control flowif / else, for loops, return, and pass. No while, break, continue, try, raise, async, or generators.
ExpressionsAssignment, lists, tuples, dictionaries, indexing, comparisons, boolean operations, and +, -, *, //, %. No /, **, comprehensions, lambda, or augmented assignment.
CallsPositional arguments only. Named helpers, admitted built-ins, and registered host calls; no dynamic callable targets.
AttributesOnly admitted contract, state, and event members. No arbitrary object methods, list.append, or ctx.attribute calls.

Values and arithmetic

Integers use a signed 256-bit range. Binary floats, complex values, and byte literals are rejected. Use decimal strings such as "42.50" with Decimal rather than floating-point literals. Decimal arithmetic uses precision 38 and round-half-even; it is not unlimited precision.

Supported data includes null/None, booleans, strings, integers, decimals, lists, tuples, and dictionaries. External dictionary keys must be strings. Canonical output sorts dictionary keys, converts tuples to arrays, and represents decimals as strings without unnecessary trailing fractional zeros. Source hashes commit to UTF-8 bytes; value hashes commit to canonical JSON.

Admitted imports

Import only the symbols you use. Aliases, wildcard imports, relative imports, and ordinary Python modules are not admitted. The runtime resolves these symbols through its signed module registry, not Python package imports. There is no filesystem, network, clock, randomness, shell, or reflection access.

Do not copy Python or older illustrative syntax blindly

The inspected profile uses @contract.entrypoint, state.get/put, and event.emit. Earlier website examples using from hybridscript import entrypoint, ctx.state_get, or ctx.emit are not valid recipes for this profile. Names that look familiar are not evidence of support. Always validate against the package’s actual signed profile.
